Art & Design Neroli is a distillation used in perfumery and made from orange blossom. Being an intense odour it can subtly and invisibly pervade a space to create a distinctive, unshifting and hypnotic atmosphere which the music echoes. To create the same effect visually we produced a set of photographic prints whose deep abstract colouring shifts subtly, creating a gently moving atmosphere in which floats musical code. The code, mapped out by Eno, is a diagrammatic representation of the musical structure of the piece. It moves through the clouds of colour which although shifting in intensity, hold a constant note.
Also within the imagery is type, projected in a room and then photographed to emphasize the spatial aspect of the piece as well as distorting the type into an abstract visual element. The resultant impression is of a heavily saturated, odiferous space. Nick Robertson, Wordsalad.
